Information:
- Kai is a very important part of most Maori celebrations (Matariki, Waitangi day).
- Specific areas have lots of good food and resources for hunting or gathering.
- In some celebrations kai is used to share hospitality during a feast
- Traditional Māori believed that the earth was responsible for life so they cooked food under the soil.
- Back before the Europeans came Māori people were hunters, gatherers and farmers who get there food from the forest, stream, ocean and garden.
